Celadon jar with carved lotus petal design, Song Dynasty

A globular jar on a spreading footring, with cylindrical neck and domed cover topped by a lotus-bud finial. Body and cover are combed overall with overlapping wave-like petals, a motif tied to Yue and early Longquan celadon of the late Tang–Northern Song period. Two loop lugs flank the neck. Even olive-grey-green glaze with fine natural crazing; unglazed footring reveals the iron-rich stoneware body typical of period firing.
