This vessel was crafted using a refined black-burnished pottery technique, with the entire surface carefully polished to a smooth, lustrous finish. The body features a flaring, trumpet-shaped mouth. The two broad, flat handles extending from each side serve not only a structural function, but also enhancing the vessel’s overall balance and symmetry.
The deep, glossy black surface was achieved through firing in a reducing atmosphere, a process in which oxygen is limited inside the kiln, causing the iron content in the clay to reduce and form a dark metallic sheen. This technique reflects an advanced stage of ceramic firing technology characteristic of the Neolithic to Bronze Age period.
