Pair of Korean Traditional Embroidered Pillowcase Frames

Pair of traditional embroidered frames, originally made from a bridal pillowcase flap and presented by a bride to her husband as part of her dowry in Korea’s late Joseon to early modern period. The embroidery features a pair of cranes facing one another among floral motifs. In Korean symbolism, cranes represent longevity, harmony, and noble union. The circular composition and refined stitching reflect the aesthetic sensibilities of domestic embroidery market.
