Pottery Figure of a Seated Drummer

A earthenware figure of a seated entertainer. A low squared cap sits on the head. The face is broad, the eyes narrowed to slits, the mouth closed but drawn up at the corners in a smile; the nose is high and blunt. Several layered creases run in shallow lines from the brow past the temple to the side of the cheek.

The shoulders rise broad and squared, and both arms are drawn forward to the abdomen, where a large rounded form sits beneath the hands. The legs are splayed, the toes emerging over a low plinth.

Date : Han Dynasty(206 B.C.E. - 220 C.E.) probably from Sichuan area
Dimension : 27cm (Height) x 30cm(Diameter)
Condition : Good(Good condition overall, structurally sound. Small crack to the right knee/arm, non-structural, earthy deposits in recesses.)
Provenance : Acquired in late 1990s from Hongkong
